New Charity Coordinator for HOPE
We recently advertised for a new Charity Coordinator following the decision of our existing Coordinator, Graham Copsey, to retire from the post. Graham has worked closely with the Trustees to take HOPE through a couple of re-structuring processes in an effort to make sure that we can continue to provide the much-needed support to survivors across Norfolk and Suffolk. Our thanks to Graham for all that he has done to take HOPE forward over the last couple of years and we wish him well in his retirement.
We’re delighted to welcome our new Coordinator – Ruby Farrell – to the HOPE team. Ruby comes with a great deal of knowledge and experience in the charity sector both nationally and, having latterly worked with Community Action Suffolk, locally. Ruby starts with us shortly (at the end of April) and we’ll add a short biography in the “Who we are” section of the website in the near future.
Annual Service of Remembrance
The annual service for everyone who has been bereaved by suicide is on Saturday 10th May at the King’s Lynn Minster. This is always a very moving occasion and a reminder that you are not alone in your grief. A time for reflection and prayer for anyone bereaved by suicide; a time to remember loved ones and light a candle of hope.
All are very welcome.
For further information, please get in touch with the Revd Canon Chris Copsey (Chaplain to HM Coroner, Norfolk and one of our HOPE Trustees) at: chriscopsey@btinternet.com
Suicide Bereavement Support Group opens in King’s Lynn
Our new support group is now up and running in King’s Lynn. The Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at St Faith’s Community Hub on Gayton Road in King’s Lynn from 7.00 – 8.30pm. The meetings are facilitated by 2 of our Trustees who have vast experience in supporting survivors.
As with all our groups, you are assured of a warm welcome in a safe space where you can meet with others who are on that difficult journey of grief after losing a loved one to suicide. Refreshments are provided, there’s plenty of parking at the venue and no cost.
Don’t feel that you have to deal with your grief on your own; get in touch and come along to join the group.
For more information check out our website (www.hopeaftersuicideloss.org.uk), email us at office@hopeaftersuicideloss.org.uk or give us a call on 07548 315080.
Suzy’s 150km Charity Run for Hope
From Suzy Bicker:
In August I ran 150km for a local charity HOPE after suicide loss.
I have raised £3540 in total.
I wanted to do this in honour & memory of my Dad, Peter Bicker 💙 A proud, honourable man.
Physically it’s been tough but mentally it’s been just as tough, if not tougher.
I want to say the biggest THANK YOU to every single person who has donated to HOPE after suicide loss ❤️
HOPE is a local charity that has helped me more than I can ever put into words. The money that has been raised will help others who are are bereaved by suicide loss to rebuild their lives.
